For the 2024 edition of NADA Miami, Primary is proud to present Paula Santomé, a Spanish artist based in Basel, Switzerland, whose hand embossed aluminum reliefs delve into themes of femininity, cultural transformation, and unconventional resistance.
Drawing inspiration from pre-Raphaelite and Symbolist art, Santomé reimagines myths and religious narratives traditionally shaped by patriarchal views, challenging their often limited portrayals of women.
Through her work, Santomé alters these inherited stories into potent symbols of strength and defiance, offering fresh perspectives on identity and liberation. Her reliefs invite a reexamination of historical narratives, fostering a dialogue about women's evolving roles and representations in contemporary culture.
